COLUMBIA - Cheryl Lynn Menchinger passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016. Ms. Menchinger was the dearly loved daughter of Ernest and Irene Menchinger of Chapin and the devoted mother of Patrick M. Egleston of Columbia. A graduate of Spring Valley High School and the University of South Carolina, she was an imaginative, innovative and caring teacher deeply committed to helping special needs children for 20 years.

Ms. Menchinger was a loving and thoughtful daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed very deeply by her parents, her son and his fiancee, four siblings and their spouses, six nieces and nephews, one great-niece, and many friends. She was loyal and generous and delighted in applying her boundless creativity to bring enjoyment to her family, friends, colleagues, and students. An avid and knowledgeable Gamecocks fan, she especially enjoyed Carolina baseball.

A memorial event will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 N. Trenholm Road in Columbia. A brief service in the sanctuary will be followed by an informal reception in the church parlor. The family invites you to don your bright spring on Gamecock colors and join them in celebrating Cherie’s life. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
