COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Kittrell Lester Tucker, 89, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Keenan Chapel, with burial in the churchyard. The family will receive friends following the service at the church in the Stirling Room. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Tucker passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015. Born in Jackson, Miss., she was a daughter of the late Kittrell Purcell Lester and Anne Leonard Lester. Mrs. Tucker received a B.A., M.A. and M.L. from the University of South Carolina. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company, was a librarian for Newberry College and an acquisition librarian for Richland County Public Library. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where she served on the Altar Guild for many years.



She was known as a loving, kind, wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Surviving are her daughter, Kittrell Anne Tucker of Columbia; granddaughter, Chelsea Tucker Helsley of Va.; niece, Debby Davidson and her children, Adam Davidson (Bethany), Rachel Davidson, Angela Etheridge (Brandon); nephew, Philip Davidson (Rosalee) and their son, Robert Davidson; niece, Anita Davidson and her son, Brandon Felix (Melissa); niece, Donna Southwick; niece, Penelope Carter (Daryl Muenchau) and their children, Hanna and Carter Muenchau; niece, Charlotte Carter-Yamauchi (Robert Yamauchi) and their children, Devon and Taylor Yamauchi; niece, Elizabeth Edwards and her children, John Matthew Edwards, Deborah Edwards, Anne Boyer (Kenny); great-great nieces and nephews, Micah, Cailin and Brody Davidson, Trystan and Jordan Felix.



She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Lester Carter (Charles), Anne Lester Davidson (Ernest); nephew, Edwin Davidson; great niece, Rebecca Edwards; and her former husband, Hubert Whitfield Tucker.



The family wishes to thank Hands and Hearts Home Care, Providence Hospital, and Agape Hospice House for their loving care and support.
