Mrs. Banks passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Providence Hospital.

Born on her family’s farm in Lake City, Florida on November 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Elizabeth Lamb.

Mary graduated from Mason High School and later married her high school sweetheart, A.C. Banks. The couple lived in Savannah, Georgia for many years before making Columbia their home.

Mary worked for Oliver Motor Company and the City of Columbia for many years. She loved music and was very gifted; she played the piano and organ beautifully. Her warm hugs reminded everyone they were loved. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, the beach and traveling in her earlier years.

Until recent declining health, Mary was active in Sunday School and Church Circle at First Baptist Church, Columbia, where she was a member for 50 years.

She is survived by her nephews, Russel Robinson (Mary) of Melbourne, Florida, Sam Robinson (Judy) of Lake City, Florida, Roy Sheridan, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, and John Lamb of Gainesville, Florida; niece, Patty Zebert (Wayne) of Jacksonville; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of many friends and loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, A.C. Banks; her brother, John Lamb; and sisters, Elizabeth Robinson, Nan Sheridan, and Lillian Lamb.

The family would like to thank Dr. Fred Smith and the staff of Providence Hospital for their loving care and support.
