COLUMBIA Surrounded by his loving family, Richard Lee (Dick) Stewart went to be with his Lord on March 10, 2015.



He was born August 31, 1937 in Wingate, N.C. to the late Robert Glenn and Nan Schachner Stewart. Richard graduated from Wingate High School and attended Wingate University. After serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed with McKesson and Robbins Drug Company working out of Winston-Salem, N.C.



The family moved to Columbia, S.C. in 1970 where Richard worked as a manufactures representative with Eddie Parker Sales. In 1990 he began...

He was born August 31, 1937 in Wingate, N.C. to the late Robert Glenn and Nan Schachner Stewart. Richard graduated from Wingate High School and attended Wingate University. After serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed with McKesson and Robbins Drug Company working out of Winston-Salem, N.C.



The family moved to Columbia, S.C. in 1970 where Richard worked as a manufactures representative with Eddie Parker Sales. In 1990 he began work with Alec Chapin Company and Managed the Barnyard Flea Markets until retirement in 2006. Richard was instrumental in establishing a worship service at the Barnyard market which continues today.



Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shelley Hargette Stewart, and three wonderful daughters: Kelley S. Tooke (Phil), Amanda S. Riddle (Ken), Nanci S. Koon (Darren) and seven grandchildren: Codey Riddle, Breah Riddle, Dustin Riddle, Wesley Koon, Blake Koon, Anna D. Smith (Benjamin), Meagan D. Bowman (Darryl) and special great-granddaughter Emsley Ann Smith.



He was predeceased by two brothers: Robert Glenn Stewart, Jr. and Thomas Marshall Stewart.

The family wishes to thank Julie B. O’Reilly, “Princess” Diana Millner, Betty Addison, and Betty Guess for their loving care.



Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
